GTA 6 setup checker

Check what you already have before buying anything.

Choose your platform and current setup. LaunchSetup will flag what is ready, what deserves a compatibility check and what probably does not need an upgrade.

This checker uses confirmed platform information and general setup requirements. It does not predict unannounced GTA VI graphics modes, frame rates or install size.

Check the basics, keep what works

No score to chase and no shopping list to unlock. A familiar controller, a compatible screen and clear audio can be enough. These are the same checks used by the tool.

Manual setup checks

Platform and display

  • GTA VI is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version has not been announced.
  • PS5 Pro Enhanced is confirmed; standard PS5 is still supported. No specific frame-rate or resolution target is assumed here.
  • Check console output compatibility and enable Game Mode. A 4K display with low-latency mode covers the key display basics.
  • A 1080p or 60Hz screen is not an automatic failure. Higher refresh and HDMI 2.1 are optional capabilities, not GTA VI requirements.

Settings, sound and space

  • HDR support does not mean HDR is enabled or calibrated. Test it on your own display; SDR remains a valid starting point.
  • VRR needs compatible console output and a supported display input. It does not confirm a GTA VI graphics mode.
  • Test your existing speakers or headset, including voice chat when relevant.
  • Clear unused games and captures. Compare free space with the official download requirement when available, plus room for updates.
